Backstage Details on Timeline of Daniel Bryan's Heel Turn & Title Win

— On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Daniel Bryan has been pushing the idea to turn heel for a while now and eventually Vince McMahon agreed but up until now, they held off on doing it.

— Sometime over the weekend – obviously before Becky Lynch was injured, McMahon decided that he didn’t want AJ Styles vs. Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series and instead wanted to go with Bryan vs. Lesnar with a title change occurring to make that happen.

— The heel turn itself was only decided on Tuesday afternoon, with Vince determining to get the title change and the heel turn done all in one day. What confuses matters is that WWE has invested a lot of time over the last few months portraying Lesnar as a heel who doesn’t care about the business so going up against a babyface Bryan would have made much more sense.

— It’s unclear why Vince pulled the trigger on the heel turn so quickly and Meltzer speculated it could be something as simple as the injury to Lynch.
